SportsCrawl is a Bluesky bot that sends one direct message a day with scores for the teams you follow. This page says exactly what it stores and what it does not. Last updated 5 August 2026.
Nothing else. No email address, no name, no location beyond the timezone you chose from a dropdown, no analytics scripts, no advertising identifiers.
A DID resolves to a public Bluesky handle and profile. Anyone with the database could look up who a subscriber is. SportsCrawl does not pretend otherwise: you are identifiable, and the real protection is that the database sits on a private server and is never shared.
Direct messages you send the bot are read to find a command
(stop, config, delete and so on) and are
not retained. What gets written to the server log is your DID and which command
matched. The text of your message is never logged, including when it matches
nothing.
Bluesky direct messages are not end-to-end encrypted. Bluesky can see their contents, and so can anyone with access to their systems. That is true of every DM you send anyone on Bluesky, not just this bot, but it is worth knowing before you send anything you would not want read.
stop pauses your messages and keeps your
settings, so start picks up where you left off.
delete removes everything the account record
holds: your DID, timezone, delivery time, selections, timestamps, and any
settings links. It asks for confirmation first and cannot be undone.
One thing survives, and it should be stated plainly. A counter of the form "someone signed up on this date" and "someone deleted on this date" is kept afterwards. It carries a one-way hash of your DID rather than the DID itself, it is only ever read as a total, and it exists so the project can tell whether people are finding it useful. It is pseudonymous, not anonymous: whoever holds both the database and the secret key could re-link it, so calling it anonymous would be a stretch.
Your conversation history stays in your Bluesky inbox after deletion. The message thread is not this application's to delete. You can delete the conversation yourself from your Bluesky client.
Nobody. There is no third-party sharing, no analytics provider, and no advertising. Scores come from ESPN, and the server fetches them once for everyone: ESPN sees this server, not you. The team crests and stylesheet on this site are served from this domain rather than a CDN, so loading this page does not tell anyone else that you visited it.
SportsCrawl is run by one person as an experiment. There is no company behind it, no uptime guarantee, and no promise it will keep running. If it stops, it stops. The data source is unofficial and could disappear without notice, in which case the project ends rather than taking on a paid replacement.
